As the days grow shorter and the temperature begins to cool, one thing is certain: fall is just around the corner. Baseball season is nearing the playoffs, there is a chill creeping into the air, and schools are back in session. With the end of summer comes a myriad of wonderful things: all fashion with its layers and scarves, football season, and pumpkin-flavored everything. And if you’re in the Newport Beach and Corona del Mar area, fall brings a number of great events that are worth putting on your calendar. Here are three can’t-miss fall events in Corona del Mar.
Great Pacific Airshow
Taking place just minutes north of Corona del Mar in Huntington Beach, the Great Pacific Airshow is a family-friendly, patriotic celebration that occurs during the first weekend of October. The airshow sees pilots performing aerial acrobatics in some of the most incredible aircraft ever constructed. This year, U.S. Air Force pilots will be joined by The Royal Airforce Aerobatic Team from Great Britain as well as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
Newport Beach Wine and Food Festival
This year will be the sixth annual Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival. Sponsored by Jaguar and Land Rover, the event is the most exclusive, intimate, and world-class epicurean lifestyle event in Southern California and features an exceptional wine menu and wine tastings, a celebrity chef golf tournament, and an opening night gala. The main event—the Pacific Sales Grand Tasting—will take place October 5th and 6th at the Newport Beach Civic Center and will showcase Food Network stars and celebrity chefs alongside over 250 world-class wines.
Better yet, proceeds from the event benefit Covenant House California, a non-profit youth homeless center that provides shelter for youth ages 18-24. Covenant House provides access to tools and resources so youth can have the best chance at success in independence.
Halloween Masquerade
Hosted by the Port Theater, the Halloween Masquerade should be an incredible event. The theater is celebrating its 70th anniversary with the masquerade, which will include premium drinks, live entertainment, and fabulous food in an incredible venue. Don your best costume and see if you can win the costume contest.
The event will take place from 8 p.m. on October 31st and last long into the night, wrapping up at 1 a.m. General admission tickets can be purchased for $90 each while a VIP experience costs $180.
