Most businesses were forced to temporarily shut their doors in March due to the shelter-in-place order. This unfortunate setback, however, has not stopped the generosity from flowing out of local businesses that are dedicated to helping out during this time. If you are interested in finding ways to support local businesses while also giving back, we’ve put together some ideas for you. Here are three Corona del Mar businesses that are giving back to their community.
is acclaimed for serving farm-to-table, locally sourced healthy alternatives to the Corona del Mar community. They boast a healthy and fresh menu that also includes produce boxes, curbside cocktails, and family-style meals. They are still operating via takeout and, in response to COVID-19, are giving back to the community by offering a 25% discount to the frontline and hospital workers as a thank you for their hard work and dedication. They have also prioritized their staff by creating an emergency fund for displaced staff members, which you can contribute to here
Live theater and musical performances are known to draw people together; it is a shared language that is spoken across the world and throughout generations. Attending a show or listening to live music may be out of the question for a while but, thanks to various venues across Orange County, you can still enjoy the arts from the comfort and safety of your home. More than three-fourths of arts programs in Orange County have adapted their art performances to be enjoyed online, reminding us that art is essential, even in times of uncertainty. Arts OC’s free event website
has everything from dance, to theatre, to powerful musical performances.
Buddha’s Favorite Sushi
Located close to Corona del Mar, Buddha’s Favorite Sushi
is finding a way to give back to their community, particularly to the frontline workers at Hoag Hospital in neighboring Newport Beach. This well-loved sushi restaurant is making a gift card collection for Hoag Hospital. Every gift card purchased, regardless of the amount, will be graciously donated to the brave heroes working tirelessly at Hoag Hospital. In addition to urging the community to take part in this initiative, Buddha’s Favorite Sushi is encouraging locals to write thank you notes or send artwork done by kids to express gratitude to the dedication of frontline workers.
