4 Newport Beach Businesses That Are Giving Back

05/28/20

Difficult times often bring communities together, and Newport Beach is a perfect example of that.

Despite the current coronavirus pandemic, Newport Beach businesses are still finding a way to invest back into their community. Here, we’ve highlighted four local businesses that are giving back.

1. Sol Cocina

With school canceled, Sol Cocina is giving away free meals for children 12 and under. Located right on the Pacific Coast Highway, they are offering their meals through pickup.

2. Atomic Creamery

A local Veteran-owned parlor is partnering with University High School Irvine’s #GirlUp club in a pay-it-forward initiative. Before COVID-19, Atomic Creamery was known for giving back to its community by providing free ice cream to military personnel and first responders on a daily basis. Here’s how it works to pay it forward: customers select two or more pints of ice cream, receive 15 percent off their order by using the promo code, fill out the name and address of the person they want to pay it forward to, and Atomic Creamy will deliver the ice cream to the person selected. The cherry on top is that for every three pints of ice cream purchased, the ice cream parlor will donate one delicious pint of ice cream to support local women-owned businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

3. Malarky’s Irish Pub

Popular among local residents, Malarky's Irish Pub has been a staple of the Newport Beach community for the past 40 years. As such, Malarky’s believes in the importance of giving back to their community and actively participating in fundraisers. Due to COVID-19, they were forced to shut their doors in early March, but that didn’t stop the pub from being involved in what was happening in the community. The owner, Mario Marovic, set up a single-day drive-through toilet paper shop where he sold 4,000 rolls of toilet paper to individuals in the community.

4. OLEA

OLEA is famous for its American-inspired cuisine, craft beers, and an array of worldwide wine choices. This Orange County-based restaurant is giving back to their community by partnering with Front Line Food OC to assist in feeding nurses and doctors at UCI Health.
