Enjoy These 4 Popular Attractions in Newport Beach

Gorgeous beaches, romantic restaurants, bicycling, and more.

Ready to spend the afternoon in Newport Beach? From beaches to bicycling, this community has something for everyone. Here are a few of the most popular attractions in the area.

Newport Pier at Balboa Peninsula

At four miles long and less than a half-mile wide, The Balboa Peninsula is where you can find both the Newport and Balboa Piers. After enjoying a day at the beach, take a walk down the Newport Pier. To the north, you’ll see Huntington Beach. To the south, you’ll be able to gaze upon the Balboa Pier. With white sand and surfers galore, this will be a stroll to remember.

At the end of the pier, take in the fisherman catching mackerel and other fish. When the sun goes down, you’ll be greeted with a beautiful sunset--the radiant colors and ocean breeze will be sure to calm. You may also ride a bike along the boardwalk and view the beautiful homes for rent and sale. The Balboa Peninsula provides an experience like no other.

Balboa Fun Zone

The Balboa Fun Zone is located on Balboa Island, a human-made island rich in restaurants and shops selling local art, fashion, and beachwear. The Fun Zone features a Ferris wheel, arcade games, and the Discovery Cube’s Ocean Quest. This destination offers fun for the entire family.

Corona del Mar State Beach

Part of the California State Park system, Corona del Mar State Beach is a beautiful half-mile beach surrounded by cliffs and a rock jetty that forms the east entrance to Newport Harbor. A great family beach to visit, you can use the picnic areas, go fishing, swim, scuba dive, snorkel, or even windsurf. With outdoor showers, eating areas, and plenty of parking, this is a great place to go to enjoy the surf.

Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve

The Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve and Ecological Reserve maintains approximately 1000 acres of space for people to visit daily from 7:00 am to sunset. One of the most extensive coastal wetlands in southern California, it is home to some of the best birdwatching sites in North America. In fact, up to 35,000 birds could use the bluffs during winter migration. Naturally, it's an excellent place for wildlife viewing and is a hub for cyclists, joggers, hikers, horseback riders and birders. Take time out of your busy schedule to visit this gem.

These aren’t the only activities in Newport Beach, but they are great places to start. You can take the ferry to Balboa Island and go shopping, cruise around the island, and so much more.
